Course Overview

It is often assumed that lesson plans are not relevant to Preschool and Early Years teaching. Preschool settings are often diverse, varied, and holistic, however, in Early Years education, there are important skills that are key to children???s emotional and educational growth. When the lesson plan meets each developmental need and area, when it is engaging and creative, parents are more likely to bring their children to the setting. This workshop will cover the EYFS (early years foundation stage curriculum) 7 areas of learning, language and communication, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world physical development, personal, social and emotional development, and expressive art and design. It will help early-year educators to develop lesson plans for their setting using the learning objectives associated with each area of learning, suggest themes to go with the 7 areas of learning and discuss how to include themes into the daily schedule or timetable.
