Course Overview

This module focuses on the relationship between leadership, instructional quality, and school effectiveness. It equips participants with the knowledge and skills to evaluate teaching practices, apply research-based frameworks, and lead schools toward continuous improvement. Through critical inquiry and collaborative activities, participants will explore how visionary and empowering leadership fosters teacher growth and enhances student learning outcomes.

Day 1: Linking Teaching Quality with Leadership Decisions

  • Examine theories of instructional leadership
  • Analyze how leadership decisions impact teaching quality and classroom practices
  • Examine the role of teacher leadership in improving instructional outcomes.

Day 2: School Effectiveness Frameworks

  • Apply key frameworks for assessing and improving school effectiveness.
  • Evaluate factors that contribute to effective schools in diverse contexts.

Day 3: Research and Evidence-Informed Practice

  • Explore research methodologies relevant to educational leadership.
  • Use data and evidence to inform decisions and guide school improvement.

Day 4: Motivation, Vision, and Teacher Empowerment

  • Develop strategies to motivate and empower teachers for sustained improvement.
  • Create a shared school vision that fosters professional growth and collaboration.


Important Details

Leading Strategic School Improvement is a four-day course delivered over four weeks, with sessions held every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program integrates interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and practical components that enable participants to apply key concepts directly within their school contexts. This structure allows time between sessions for reflection and implementation, fostering deeper learning and sustained professional growth.

Upon successful completion of Leading Strategic School Improvement, participants will receive a certificate of course completion issued by the LUMS School of Education.
