Course Overview

This course equips educators with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to design, lead, and deliver effective STEM/STEAM education in school settings. Participants will explore interdisciplinary teaching, project-based learning, design thinking, and assessment strategies while developing classroom-ready STEM units.


Learning Outcomes:

Day 1: Module 1:

Introduction to STEM/STEAM Education

  • Understand the philosophy and relevance of STEM/STEAM
  • Reflect on current teaching practices and the role of a teacher as a facilitator in STEM classrooms
  • Identify global trends and opportunities for STEM integration in their context

21st-Century Skills & Teacher Role

  • Identify key 21st-century skills (critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication)
  • Design activities that promote student-centered and hands-on learning
  • Apply strategies to foster collaboration and problem-solving in classrooms
  • Evaluate their role in developing future-ready learners

Day 2: Module 2:

Pedagogic al Approaches in STEM

  • Differentiate between inquiry-based, project-based, and problem-based learning
  • Apply experiential learning strategies in lesson design
  • Engage in hands-on problem-solving activities
  • Begin developing simple STEM tools/kits to support learning

Day 3: Module 2:

Curriculum Design & Lesson Planning

  • Apply backward design principles to plan lessons
  • Write clear, measurable learning objectives
  • Integrate multiple subjects into cohesive STEM lessons
  • Design differentiated learning experiences for diverse learners

Day 4: Module 3

Classroom-ready Project Implementation

  • Design and develop a complete STEM/STEAM project for classroom use
  • Build and test a functional STEM kit using available materials
  • Present and justify project design using learned pedagogies
  • Provide and incorporate peer feedback for improvement
  • Demonstrate readiness to implement STEM learning in their own classrooms
