Course Overview

This is an introductory session to establish the integral role Assessment plays in the process of teaching and learning. Teachers' intention is translated in the content and skills which is delivered in the classroom. The quality of transfer of knowledge is determined during the assessment conducted by teachers. The information received, is only as valid and reliable as the process used to gather that information. The day's session will start with exploring the rationale for Assessment and the main types. The main thrust will be on the Assessment of and for Learning, validity and reliability of the assessment instruments, sources/form of the data and its implications on future planning. Central to all is the assessment instrument and its effective design; is it assessing what it is meant to assess? In this course, the participants will actively engage in designing Assessments of and for learning and will critically review their designs.????
