Course Overview

The workshop is specifically designed for novice K12 teachers and school coordinators to introduce them to the essence of assessment, distinguishing it from traditional practices and providing a deep dive into its principles and frameworks. The workshop will expose participants to practical strategies tailored to the classroom, and enable them to engage students with self and peer assessment, and reflect on personal teaching practices to integrate Assessment for Learning (AFL) seamlessly. The workshop will conclude by introducing technology tools for assisting in carrying out effective?? AFL Practices within classrooms.

  • Define the concept of Assessment for Learning (AfL) and differentiate it from traditional assessment practices.
  • Understand the principles and theoretical framework behind Assessment for Learning
  • Explore various strategies and techniques for implementing Assessment for Learning in the K-12 classroom.
  • Explore methods for involving students in self-assessment and peer-assessment processes.
  • Reflect on personal teaching practices and identify opportunities for integrating Assessment for Learning into existing curriculum and instruction.
